Shrill Voices: new residency programme for female writers
“Women make up the majority of theatre audiences, but are still underrepresented as writers. We need more programmes and initiatives aimed at giving women the space they deserve to make their voices heard.”
Anja Kulessa, Shrill Voices Coordinator
The Shrill Voices Residency is a brand new programme designed to kickstart fresh work by female writers.
As part of a two week programme, eight artists or companies will develop their work at the Rosemary Branch Theatre.
The residency provides:
+ One week rehearsal space to workshop and develop your piece
+ An opportunity to meet and network with fellow artists in a collaborative space
+ 20 minute sharings of your work in front of an audience as part of two Shrill Voices nights
+ Support and mentoring throughout the process by Unattended Items
We welcome applications by trans women, cisgendered women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who are significantly female-identified.
Submit your application, along with a short extract of your written work, via the online form.
Application deadline: 13th Jan 2019 midnight
Successful applicants will be contacted by 1st February 2019. Residencies will be programmed between the 18th and 31st March 2019.
